Privacy notice

Last updated 13 September 2026

This notice explains what personal information Bloomfield Yachting collects when you use this website and the members' app, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. We have written it in plain English on purpose. If anything is unclear, email us and a person will answer.

Who we are

Bloomfield Yachting is the trading name of Ross Bloomfield, a sole trader, and is the controller of the personal information described here. You can reach us at enquiries@bloomfield-yachting.com.

What we collect, and why

When you send us an enquiry

The boat care enquiry and the charter enquiry forms ask for your name, email address and, optionally, a phone number, along with details about your boat or the charter you have in mind, and how you would like us to contact you. We use this to reply to you and to arrange the conversation you asked for. Our lawful basis is that you asked us to get in touch (steps taken at your request before entering a contract) and, for anything beyond that, our legitimate interest in running the business.

When you take part in a survey

Survey answers are anonymous unless you choose to leave an email address to enter a prize draw. If you do, we use it only to run the draw and to tell you if you have won.

When you become a member

Membership is by invitation. If you accept, we create an account for you and hold your name, contact details, your boat's details, its safety and document register with its expiry dates, the jobs you ask us to do, our notes and photographs of work carried out, and a record of your sign ins. We need this to provide the service you have agreed to; that agreement is our lawful basis. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your name and email address and nothing else.

Automatically

Our hosting provider records standard server logs (your IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and to keep the site running. We do not run analytics or advertising trackers.

Cookies

The public pages of this site set no cookies. The members' app stores a sign in token in your browser so you stay signed in; that is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for, so no consent banner is needed and you will not see one. Signing out removes it.

Who else sees it

We use a small number of suppliers to run the site and the app, each acting on our instructions and under contract: Supabase (database and sign in), Vercel (hosting), Resend (sending email from the site), Zoho (our mailbox) and Google (if you choose Google sign in). Some of these process data outside the UK; where they do, they rely on the UK's adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement. We do not sell or share your information with anyone for marketing. If we arrange a contractor for your boat we pass on only what they need to do the job.

How long we keep it

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict what we do with it. Email us and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would appreciate the chance to put it right first.

Changes

If we change this notice we will update the date at the top. If the change matters to you as a member we will tell you directly.
