Yacht care and maintenance in Antigua

The routine that keeps a vessel sound in sun, salt and heat.

Yacht care in the Caribbean is a rhythm, not a repair. Fresh water after salt, shade before sun, servicing before failure. Bloomfield Yachting runs that rhythm for owners in Antigua and shows the result in the owner app.

Care plans

Every vessel gets a written plan from the first meeting: what needs doing, how often, and who does it. The plan lives in the app and drives the reminders.

Washdown and rinseFreshwater wash before you arrive and after you leave. Stainless wiped, canvas dried, teak kept out of the sun where possible.
Systems checksEngines, generator, watermaker, air conditioning, electronics and pumps exercised and logged on a cycle.
Scheduled maintenanceOil and filters, impellers, anodes, antifoul, rigging inspection, safety kit and gas, all tracked by hours and dates.
InteriorVentilation, dehumidification, soft furnishings aired, lockers opened, fridges cleaned and left open.

The maintenance engine

Recurring tasks are set once in the vessel register: weekly, fortnightly, monthly, six monthly or yearly. Reminders go to you and to us before each one falls due. When a task is completed it is photographed and the next occurrence is scheduled automatically. Nothing is forgotten because nothing depends on memory.

Trades network

Antigua has excellent marine trades and some poor ones. We book the people we have used on our own boats: engineers, riggers, electricians, canvas, carpentry, antifoul and polish. We brief them, we are there when they arrive, and we sign the work off with before and after photographs. Invoices come to you itemised.

Quality checks

Every piece of work is inspected before it is marked done. If it is not right it goes back. You are never asked to take our word for it: the photographs are in the app.

Pricing

Care sits inside the membership tiers alongside guardianage visits. A set number of washes and maintenance checks are included per tier, with set up and put to bed at member rates. The owner app is US$ 9.99 a month. Quotes follow the free first meeting at the vessel.

Questions

Do you do the work yourselves or use contractors?

Routine care, checks and washdowns are done by our team. Specialist work goes to trades we know, and we supervise it.

Can you look after a vessel I only use a few weeks a year?

Yes. That is the typical owner. The plan is built around your visits so the vessel is ready when you land and put to bed when you leave.

How do I know work was actually done?

Every task is closed with dated photographs in the owner app. The register shows what is due next.

What about charter yachts?

We turn vessels around between charters and keep the maintenance plan running underneath. Ask at the first meeting.
