Bloomfield Yachting · Antigua
Someone who knows the vessel, checking it on a schedule, with proof.
Guardianage, custodianship, boat watch, boat sitting. Different words for the same need: an unattended vessel checked regularly by someone competent, and the owner told what was found. Bloomfield Yachting provides that in Antigua with photographs from every visit.
Three things fail on a vessel left alone in the tropics: batteries, bilges and air. A charger trips and the batteries flatten. A stern gland weeps, the float switch sticks, and the bilge fills. Hatches stay shut, humidity climbs and mould takes the headlining. None of it is dramatic on day one. All of it is expensive by month three. A scheduled visit catches each one while it is still a ten minute fix.
Each check is photographed and uploaded to the owner app the same day with a short note. If something needs attention it becomes a task with a cost estimate for you to approve. If nothing needs attention you still get the pictures. That is the point.
We check vessels on moorings and in marina berths in English Harbour, Falmouth Harbour and Jolly Harbour, and on the hard in the local yards. The checklist changes slightly for a hauled vessel (stands, straps, covers, drains) but the cadence and reporting do not.
If the marina, a neighbour or a weather forecast raises a concern between scheduled visits, we attend. Storm preparation and after storm inspection are part of the service for vessels left through hurricane season.
Guardianage is priced by visit cadence. Monthly, fortnightly and weekly schedules are the standard tiers and sit on top of the US$ 9.99 a month owner app. The first meeting at the vessel is free and we quote from that.
Guardianage is checking and reporting on a schedule. Management adds maintenance planning, contractor supervision and paperwork. Most owners start with guardianage and add management when the vessel needs work.
Monthly, fortnightly or weekly depending on the tier. Weekly is recommended for vessels left through hurricane season.
Yes, on request and at the cadence you choose. Running under load is better for the engines than idling, so we do it on a short motor where the berth allows.
